Senior Circuit: Lindsey Richardson

Senior Lindsey Richardson is a pretty good volleyball player. How good? Her single-season attack percentage of .438 ranks fifth all-time in Georgia high school history. A member lrich200of the four-time Georgia state championship squad from Peachtree City (about 30 miles south of Atlanta), she was named the player of the game at the 2003 championship.

She was recruited by Wofford, and remembers her first visit fondly.

“Being recruited for volleyball was how I had heard of Wofford,” she says. “I remember driving through the campus with my parents during the spring time and thinking it was such a pretty school. I really liked the atmosphere.”

On the court, the stratosphere is where she spends much of her time. She got off to a great start as a freshman before suffering a season-ending knee injury. But she has bounced back to be one of the strengths of the team. But Richardson has interests away from the court, too.

“Being on the volleyball team for all four years has occupied a significant amount of time,” she says, “but I was able to join a sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, which has also allowed me to meet friends outside athletics.”

Academically, she has shifted course once. A biology major as a freshman, she decided to change things up.

“I really enjoyed psychology,” she says. “I am a Psychology major with a Business minor. I am very happy with my decision to change.”

Meanwhile, as her college career winds down, it’s time to look to the future. It’s a vision that is still coming into focus.

“I have a general idea about what I want to do in the future but no set plans yet,” says Richardson. “I would like to go to graduate school for psychology in a year or two.”
