Senior Circuit: Brandon HuntWhen asked why he chose to attend Wofford College, senior Brandon Hunt has a laundry list of reasons. For one, the Louisville, Ky., resident grew up in Charleston, S.C., and wanted to be fairly close to family and friends. Secondly, it gave him a chance to continue playing football. And finally, he felt that Wofford’s reputation in the sciences could prepare him for his career goals.
Football helped bring him to Wofford, but academics and other things took over from there.
“I played football my freshman year and decided I was just a bit burned out, so I decided to stop playing,” said Hunt. “I pledged and became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. I have worked with IFC (Interfraternity Council) and served as its president this past year while also serving as vice president of my chapter of SAE.”
Hunt has also worked on the Wofford orientation staff for three years and was a co-chairman this past year. He participated in the Community of Scholars program last summer, performing experiments with rats. He also says he has tried to play every intramural sport that Wofford offers.
Hunt’s goal coming to Wofford was to major in biology and go to dental school. It hasn’t changed. He’s been a biology major “from day one” and is also a member of the pre-dental society.
What about memories of the past three and a half years?
“Over the past three or so years here at Wofford, I have had a great time full of hilarious moments and great memories,” he says. “I would have to say that the week I spent scuba diving in Little Cayman my sophomore year during Interim is probably one of my favorites. I wore swimming trunks and walked around barefoot the entire time I was there. You can’t really beat that. I also got to see a ton of cool stuff underwater.
“My second favorite memory would have to be when we beat Appalachian State in football last year. That was just a great day!”
