Senior Circuit: Michelle Boykin

Michelle Boykin grew up in Columbia, S.C. When the time came for choosing a college to attend, she wanted the right combination of education and location. She found it just up I-26 at Wofford.

boykin200“I chose Wofford because I wanted to stay close to family and remain in South Carolina,” says Boykin. “I also knew Wofford had an outstanding reputation for scholastic achievement that would provide me with a challenging and rewarding experience for my next four years. It has certainly lived up to its reputation, and I could not be more proud to be a Terrier.”

Boykin is not your typical college student. Her first two years at Wofford she was part of the rifle team. Now she sticks to her guns as a member of the debate team. She’s also secretary of Campus Civitans, and is also working in the foreign language lab.

To no surprise, with so many varied interests she couldn’t just have one major. She has two, government and Spanish, with a concentration in world politics. Boykin plans to become the first in her family to attend graduate school by going to law school when she graduates from Wofford in the spring. She says she would like to start her own private practice specializing in property law.

As for her time here at Wofford, she says the one memory that sticks out more than any other was the time her studies allowed her to travel to Salamanca, Spain.

“It was an experience of a lifetime,” she says. “The opportunity to venture overseas and immerse myself in a culture completely different from my own is indescribable. Not only did I learn more about the people and the environment I lived in, but I also learned more about my own capabilities and strengths. I would have never had this experience without the encouragement and assistance that the Wofford community provided me.”
