Senior Circuit: Ashley Carr

Ashley Carr grew up in Dillon, SC, a little less than halfway between Florence, SC and Fayetteville, NC. As a middle school student, she attended a very cold and rainy Wofford/Furman football game and declared at the time she would never, ever come to Spartanburg again.

carr200Never came a lot sooner than she thought. As a high school senior she visited a friend who was attending Wofford and the rest is history.

“I was immediately sold,” she says. “The personal feel, small class sizes, academic clout, beautiful campus and biology program appealed to me.”

She has never wavered from her major choice (biology), but her plan next year is to attend the South Carolina School of Pharmacy in Charleston, SC. But there still is the matter of this year to attend to. No sense looking forward yet when the past and present have been so much fun.

Carr has held three positions at Kappa Delta sorority…vice president of operations last year and both chaplain and bible study leader this year. She has been a class representative for three years at the Campus Union, served on the Facilities Committee for two years, and also been involved in the Order of Omega Green Honor Society, Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society, as well as Campus Outreach. She has also enjoyed volunteering at Miracle Hill Prison Ministries.

In short, Carr has always been involved in many things.

While her final months tear off the calendar here at Wofford, she says the local geography has left a big impression on her.

“I grew up fairly close to the coast, but I have really come to love the mountains since being at Wofford,” says Carr. “I love hiking and running, and have found great places to enjoy those things! Also, meeting lifelong friends that I cannot imagine living without next year has been a great memory.”
