Philanthropy

Although founded as a social Fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha engages a variety of philanthropic events throughout the year to benefit the community and various other foundations.

During its inaugural year, "Shakes for Epilepsy" was a fundraiser over Spring Weekend at Wofford to raise money for the Epilepsy Foundation of North Carolina.  By selling shaved ice and t-shirts, Pi Kappa Alpha raised nearly $1000, most of which was used to help purchase Epilepsy medication for those who are unable to afford it.

Also in its first year, the Pi Kappa Alpha Clothing drive collected over 100 articles of clothing, which were donated to those in need

Nu Chapter also helps maintain the beauty and integrity of Wofford's campus by cleaning and fertilizing the medians and vegetation on Evans Street.

Before the fall semester ends, the Fraternity, along with Kappa Alpha Theta and Pi Kappa Phi, provide entertainment and presents to the Boys' and Girls' Club of Spartanburg, as they invite them to join in celebrating the upcoming Holidays.

Pi Kappa Alpha and its members participate in other forms of volunteerism throughout the year as events arise.  In 2008, the Fraternity volunteered with Habitat for Humanity to help renovate and improve homes in a local neighborhood.  If there is a cause in which Pi Kappa Alpha may help, feel free to contact any members of the Fraternity and ask for assistance.
