Summit Adventures
The Summit Adventures offer students a way to make the transition to college more enjoyable and valuable, as well as giving them an introduction to the campus, Spartanburg and the foothills area of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. The Summit Adventure is an incredible experience in which students can participate in activities ranging from theater, cheering on the Terriers to white water rafting on the Pigeon River.
FYI 2012 begins Wednesday, August 29th on campus as students move into their residence halls and enjoy the first day of college. On Thursday, August 30th new students, upperclassmen, faculty and staff will travel to Camp Greystone in Tuxedo, North Carolina where everyone will enjoy a full day of in-camp activities followed by dinner and an evening social. Everyone will return to campus by chartered buses after the evening activities at Camp Greystone.
On Saturday, September 1st, the Summit Adventure continues in a variety of activities. All students will participate in a specific Adventure activity of their choosing. Each Adventure has been uniquely designed for new students, and will be directed by a full-time faculty or staff member. Wofford staff members have created opportunities for students to choose between attending the first football game, creating a theater production, having fun with art, enjoying a full day of white water rafting, or solving team problems with a creative twist.
Full descriptions are posted in the student checklist on the main myWofford site. During the next month, all new students will select a specific Adventure. So that a quality experience can be enjoyed by all, there will be a maximum number of participants in each Adventure, and for some of the Adventures, there may be a fee to be a participant which is posted in the description. Once an Adventure fills to capacity, it is indicated on the registration page.
Student Athletes who are involved with fall sports will have a specialized Adventure designed with you in mind during your preseason training. Details on your Adventure will be provided during preseason by your coach and conducted by The Mungo Center for Professional Development. You will need to register for the Competitive Edge on the registration page.
For all students, the deadline to choose your Adventure online is August 20th.
Once you have registered for a Summit Adventure, you will be contacted through your Wofford College email with more information about what you need to bring, instructions, and the other details .
If your Summit Adventure has a fee associated with it, please send it to the following address with the Summit Adventure indicated when you register:
