Chamber Music Series presents Teszler memorial concert Friday

Christmas performances set for Saturday, Tuesday

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Wofford College's Chamber Music Series will present a Memorial Concert Honoring the late Sandor Teszler and featuring William Preucil, violinist and concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra, at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in Leonard Auditorium in Main Building.  The program is free and open to the public.

Joining Preucil will be William Ransom, pianist; Charae Krueger, cellist; and Eun-Sun Lee, violinist, associate professor of music and director of the Chamber Players at Wofford.

Selections to be performed include Brahms Piano Quartet in G Major and others.

Preucil, a distinguished professor of violin, was named concertmaster of the Cleveland Orchestra in 1995. Previously, he was first violinist of the Cleveland Quartet from 1989 to 1995. He was concertmaster of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra from 1982 to 1989. He was appointed to the Cleveland Institute of Music faculty in 1995. In 2007-2008, Preucil recorded the revised Suzuki Violin Volumes 1-4.

Ransom is a graduate of The Juilliard School, a piano professor at Emory University, and the artistic director for the Highland/Cashiers Festival.

Goldtones 382wideVKrueger received her training in cello studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. She received a bachelor of music degree in cello performance and holds an artist diploma from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Mass. She is a principal cellist of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, and also performs with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

Lee is a graduate of The Juilliard School.

The concert is made possible by a bequest from James and Pauline Toy and is presented in memory of them and in honor of their friend, the late Sandor Teszler. It is part of Wofford’s Chamber Music Series.

Wofford's Department of Music will present its Christmas concerts Saturday and Tuesday.

Saturday will be the Christmas Choral Concert at 7 p.m. in Leonard Auditorium, Main Building.  It will feature the Wofford Singers and the Chamber Players performing Bach’s “Magnificat.”

The Wofford Concert Band will present its Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, also in Leonard Auditorium.
