. -- Karl Edward Alexander, age 19, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2010.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lydia. The Rev. Valerie Mireb, Dr. B. Mike Alexander Jr. and Dr. Tim McClendon will officiate Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 14, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home in Hartsville.

Karl was born in Florence, a son of Wiley and DeLois Galloway Alexander. The paternal grandson of Jean H. Alexander of Bishopville and the late Boyd M. Alexander Sr. and the maternal grandson of Barbara Mozingo Galloway of Hartsville and the late W. Homer Galloway.

He was a 2009 Graduate of Robert E. Lee Academy in Bishopville. At graduation he received the American Legion Citizenship Award, 2008/2009 Cavalier Award and the Ruth Woodham Scholarship Award. He attended Palmetto Boys State and was an ambassador to the People to People World Leadership Program. While at Robert E. Lee Academy he was a member of the golf team and received the Coach's Award for three consecutive years and was a member of the Beta Club.

Karl was a rising sophomore at Wofford College, was a brother of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a member of the Wofford's lacrosse team.

Karl's favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, golfing, NASCAR, lacrosse, basketball and sports in general. His greatest thrill was attending his brother's baseball and basketball games.

Surviving are his parents of Hartsville; one brother, Wesley Alexander, Hartsville; his grandmothers; one aunt, Nancy "NaNa" Galloway, West Columbia; two uncles, Dr. Mike (Betsy) Alexander, Murrells Inlet, and Whit (Beth) Alexander, Greenville.

Pallbearers will be the members of his fraternity.
