Student group to discuss sentencing disparity

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Students at Wofford College are planning a campus wide event to address social issues, in particular the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine at 7 p.m. on April 30 in Leonard Auditorium.

The event will include a mock trial, as well as a speaker who will provide participants with more information on the issue and present various viewpoints and arguments.

The event is organized by first-year Bonner Scholars. The Bonner Scholar program is a scholarship program designed to recognize students who demonstrate the ability to succeed both in the classroom of their colleges and in the communities beyond those classrooms.  Wofford Bonner Scholars have responsibility, commitment, and unselfish devotion to public and private social service agencies and individuals in need.

This event is free and open to the public.
