S.C. Methodist Youths to Gather at Wofford in July
Friday, June 28, 2002
SPARTANBURG, SC—Hundreds of youth from across the state are expected to converge on the Wofford College campus for two major South Carolina United Methodist events in July.
The South Carolina Conference Council on Youth Ministries will present the South Carolina United Methodist Youth Annual Conference July 8-12 and the Youth Leadership Week July 22-26.
The Youth Annual Conference will bring some 400 youths and 70 adult staff members to Wofford’s campus. Each church in the S.C. Methodist Conference is invited to send youth delegates to the conference, where they are challenged by guest speakers, participate in musical programs, worship and bond together. It is open to rising eighth-graders through those who have completed 12th grade.
Youth Leadership Week will bring 200 young people and about 50 adult staff members. It is designed for rising seventh-graders through those who have completed 11th grade. It is an opportunity for the participants to learn more about youth ministry. Through creative worship and workshops, they will learn what it means to be a leader in their churches, schools, communities and the world.
Wofford has been the site of both conferences for a number of years.
