Wofford College professors hold photographic exhibit

January 14, 2004

SPARTANBURG, SC – Two Wofford College professors, Dr. G.R. Davis and Dr. Peter Schmunk, are exhibiting their photographic skills in a show that runs through Feb. 27 in the Sandor Teszler Library Gallery on campus.

“Photographs – Perspectives on Place” features photographs taken during several Interim projects to Europe and the Caribbean, and various trips around the United States.

In October 2003, Davis won third place in the amateur photograph competition at the Spartanburg Museum of Art’s Annual Sidewalk Art Show at Barnet Park in Spartanburg. He entered his twilight photography of Cefalu and La Rocca on the northern coast of Sicily, taken while traveling with Schmunk and Wofford students during a January Interim trip.

Davis is an associate professor of biology. Schmunk is a professor of art history.

A reception for the Davis and Schmunk will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Gallery. Hours for the exhibition are: Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-midnight; Friday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m.-midnight.
