Artwork exploring NASCAR to be exhibited at Wofford

Spartanburg, S.C. – Paintings by Shawn Hardegree, which explore the relationship between NASCAR and popular culture, will be on exhibit at Wofford College beginning Monday, March 5. The exhibit is free and open to the public.

In this collection of large paintings, Hardegree explores the American tradition of NASCAR racing, and attempts to capture the speed, excitement and crowd mentality associated with car racing.

Hardegree holds a BFA in painting from the Ringling School of Art and Design and a MFA from the University of Tennessee. He lives in Tempe, Ariz.

The paintings will be on display in the Sandor Teszler Library Gallery through April 27. Hours for the gallery are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
