Hub City Writers Conference to be at Wofford Aug. 15-17

SPARTANBURG, SC – “Writing in Place,” a regional writers conference, will occur Aug. 15-17 at Wofford College, featuring author George Singleton as keynote speaker and several of the most accomplished writers in the Carolinas as faculty.
Sponsored for the third year by the Hub City Writers Project, the conference is a hands-on, intensive writing experience, designed to help both beginners and professionals develop the craft of creative writing.
The faculty includes: Claire Bateman (poetry), Frye Gaillard and Dot Jackson (creative non-fiction), and Thomas McConnell and Rosa Shand (fiction). The conference is limited to 60 people, and registrants must sign up for one of three tracks: poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction.
Singleton, author of The Half Mammals of Dixie (Algonquin, 2003), will deliver the keynote address Friday evening, Aug. 15. Participants in the conference will receive six hours of instruction in their chosen discipline. In addition, there are faculty readings and a panel discussion on "Getting Published."
