SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford College will hold its annual Family Weekend this weekend, Oct. 27-29, with a variety of activities, including the Terriers meeting the Western Carolina Catamounts on the gridiron on Saturday afternoon and a concert that evening.

The weekend will begin Friday with a meeting of the Parents Advisory Council from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Franklin W. Olin Building.  The meeting is open to members of the council.

Friday at 6 p.m. the women’s soccer team will face Georgia Southern at Snyder Field while the women’s volleyball team will go up against the College of Charleston in Benjamin Johnson Arena.  The games are free and open to the public.

At 7 p.m. Friday, the Troubadour Series will present a classical and flamenco guitar performance featuring classical guitarists Michael Bard and Corey Whitehead.  The program is open to the public and is free; a donation of $10 for adults is suggested.

Also, at 9 p.m. Friday, the Wofford Activities Committee will hold a band party, featuring Coconut Groove, at the top of The Row.  All faculty, staff, students and families are invited to the free event.

Saturday, registration will be from 8 to 11 a.m. in front of the Burwell Building, where coffee and Danish will be served.  Tickets for the Family Weekend Luncheon and the football game will be available for purchase at registration.

Open house in the academic departments, where students’ family members can meet with professors, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.  A list of faculty members available and their office locations can be picked up at the registration table in front of the Burwell Building.

The Family Weekend Luncheon will be held under the tent on the lawn of Main Building from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under; Wofford students free with Wofford ID.

At 1:30 p.m., the Terriers take on the Western Carolina Catamounts in football at Gibbs Stadium.  Tickets may be purchased from the Wofford Department of Athletics by calling 597-4080 or on game day at the stadium ticket office.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 3 to 12.

A highlight of the weekend will be the Wofford College Music Department’s 6th Annual Family Weekend Concert, set for at 5 to 6 p.m. on Saturday on the front steps of Main Building.  Groups performing will include the Wofford Concert Band, Chamber Players, Goldtones, Wofford Singers, Glee Club and Women’s Choir.  The event is free and open to the public.

At 6 p.m., the women’s volleyball team will face The Citadel in Benjamin Johnson Arena.  The game is free and open to the public.

Sunday will begin with a “Good Morning” Reception with President and Mrs. Benjamin B. Dunlap, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the President’s Home.  The event is co-hosted by the Parents Advisory  Council.

A Campus Worship Service will be held from 11 a.m. to noon in Leonard Auditorium in Main Building.

Sunday Brunch will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the upstairs Dining Room of the Burwell Building.  Payment may be made at the door.  Cost is $7.25 for adults and $3.50 for children under 10.

At 2 p.m. Sunday, the women’s soccer team will face the Appalachian State Mountaineers in the Senior Day Game at Snyder Field.  The game is free and open to the public.
