LeFort Image

Jean-Louis LeFort
(1875-1954)

LeFort gained a reputation early in his career for his watercolor illustration of Parisian scenes; however, during World War I, he followed the French army, making sketches of scenes from the front.  These illustrations of incidents great and small became color lithographs in this series, called "Impressions du Front."

LeFort's work is included in numerous collections, including the Musée Carnavalet and the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris, as well as museums in Strasborg, Hanover and his birthplace, Bordeaux.
