The Whetsell Fellowship enables a Wofford student to study some aspect of the visual arts during the summer, with the study leading to an exhibition on the campus during the school year. The 2009 Whetsell Fellow, Amy Powers, spent the summer working with artist David Benson to integrate various art media, focusing especially on collage. Powers has volunteered at an orphanage and nutrition center in Nicaragua and plans to donate any sales from the exhibition to that charity.
