Wofford College, established in 1854, is a leading independent liberal arts college of 1,550 students located in historic Spartanburg, S.C. Playing in the Football Championship Series (FCS), the Wofford Terriers were Southern Conference champions in 2003, 2007 and 2010. The men's basketball team was the 2010 and 2011 Southern Conference champions, making back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. The men's soccer team was the 2009 Southern Conference champion, and the baseball team was the 2007 SoCon champion. Since 1995, Wofford has been the summer training camp home of the NFL's Carolina Panthers, and the athletic facilities, built to NFL standards, are open to all students, faculty and staff.
Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Wofford also is home to one of the nation's 280 Phi Beta Kappa chapters. The college's historic 175-acre campus is recognized as a national arboretum, the Roger Milliken Arboretum at Wofford College.
