In America, Kappa Sigma was founded on December 10, 1869 by Five Friends and Brothers: William Grigsby McCormick, George Miles Arnold, John Covert Boyd, Edmund Law Rogers Jr., and Frank Courtney Nicodemus.
The Alpha Nu Chapter was founded on January 27, 1894 by Fred Anson Cummings, John Caswell Roper, Thomas McTyeire Raysor, Nathaniel Moss Salley, and Benjamin Wofford Wait.
The Colors of Kappa Sigma are Scarlet, White, and Emerald Green.
The Flower of Kappa Sigma is the Lily of the Valley.
Recent Alpha-Nu Accomplishments:The Brothers of the Alpha-Nu Chapter won Greek Week 2009 at Wofford College, beating all other fraternities in activities like tug-of-war and other Greek games.
The Brothers also won the Wofford Holiday Lighting Contest 2008, where the different fraternities decorate their houses for Holiday festivities. For their efforts, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity received a $200 prize and had a picture of their decorated house posted on the school website's front page.
