Intercultural Studies

Students who wish to be actively involved in the design of their own major and who wish to study relevant issues in non-Western countries may want to consider majoring in Intercultural Studies. Planning should begin in the sophomore year with the selection of a topic of study. The student should select a region or a country, or maybe decide on a project which compares and contrasts several regions or countries. A student should determine if the approach will be historical or contemporary. What discipline will be used to structure and guide the study? The student should have the appropriate method of study to complete coursework and research in the topic. Finally the specific topic must be focused and refined. The junior and senior year and possibly study at one of Wofford's Study Abroad programs will allow the student to engage in meaningful discovery and reflection on a topic of interest that may not be served by any of the majors currently available at Wofford.
