Major Information
Prerequisites
- History 101 - History of Modern Western Civilization to 1815
- History 102 - History of Modern Western Civilization since 1815
Requirements
A major consists of 28 semester hours. In addition, all students majoring in History must complete a special senior reading program. Students majoring in History must successfully complete History 260 (preferably in the spring semester of their sophomore year) and fulfill the department's distribution requirement:
- at least 9 semester hours in American history
- at least 3 semester hours in early European history (330, 340, 341, 350, 360, 383)
- at least 3 semester hours of modern European history (361, 370, 380, 381, 382, 384, 385, 387, 388, 389)
- at least 3 semester hours from 460 or 465
- at least 3 semester hours in Modern Middle East, Modern East Asia, Modern Imperialism, Colonial Latin America, or Modern Latin America
- History 447 or 448
