Whether your interest is the plays of Shakespeare, the novels of Faulkner, or something else altogether, as an English major at Wofford you will read, study, discuss and write about literature in its many forms.

At Wofford, the department of English offers classes that allow for close study of individual genres, periods, geographic locations, particular authors, or topics with professors who have an interest and expertise in those areas.

Most classes hinge on discussion, which allows for a free exchange of ideas between students and faculty members and gives you a chance to interact with your classmates instead of forcing you into a passive learning experience.

In addition to the study of literature, English majors at Wofford have the opportunity to take courses in literary criticism, film, journalism, business writing, creative writing and public speaking.
