Major & Minor Requirements

Prerequisites for the Major in Economics or Business Economics

  • Mathematics 140 - Statistics
  • Mathematics 181 - Calculus I or Mathematics 160- Calculus for the Social Sciences
  • Any Computer Science course

Economics Major Requirements
Thirty-one semester hours as follows:

  • Economics 201 and 202 (each with grades of C- or higher)
  • Economics 301 and 450
  • One of the following: Economics 302 or 322
  • 15 additional hours in Economics - Two courses must be writing intensive. 

Economics Minor Requirements
Fifteen semester hours as follows:

  • Economics 201 and 202 (each with grades of C- or higher)
  • Economics 322
  • Two 300- or 400- level electives in Economics

The minor in Economics is now available to students majoring in Finance and Intercultural Studies for Business.

Business Economics Major Requirements
Thirty-seven semester hours as follows:

  • Economics 201 and 202 (each with grades of C- or higher)
  • Economics 301, 372, and 450
  • One of the following: Economics 302 or 322
  • Accounting 211 and 341
  • Finance 321
  • One of the following courses: Business 331, 338 or 348
  • Two additional courses in Economics - One of these courses must be a writing intensive course.
