Philanthropy
Our National Philanthropy is Children's Cancer Charities. In
1999, Tri Delta's Executive Board formally announced a philanthropic
partnership with St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital; therefore, a large portion of the money we
raise will go to the children at St. Jude. In 2001, we hosted our first
Tri-Delta Triple Play. Triple Play is a softball tournament that includes
teams formed by Wofford students and faculty. It is a great opportunity to
interact with other organizations and raise money for St. Jude
simultaneously. Our fraternity holds several events each year in order to
raise money; Sincerely Yours letters are sent out to family and friends for
donations, name-brand-jeans are sold on campus during Charity Denim, sisters
walk around the Relay for Life track until the break or dawn, and teacher
competitions are held in which the teacher with the most raised money must kiss
our terrier mascot (Smooch the Pooch). Through these events during the academic
year, our chapter alone raised $21,517, all of which will go to St. Jude
Children's Research
Hospital. Our
service to our Philanthropy also extends beyond Woffor College.
Several of our sisters have visited and volunteered at St. Jude during the
summer or Interim, and they have enhanced our fraternity's purpose in helping
the kids at St. Jude. The walls of the hospital are covered with murals, and we
are proud there is one thanking the members of Delta Delta Delta.
