High Impact Curriculum Fellows Program
Launched by a $200,000 grant awarded to Wofford in 2012 by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, the High Impact Fellows (HIF) program brings faculty from area high schools together with college faculty and students to collaborate in developing classroom-ready materials that reflect current research in academic disciplines.

What do you need to know about the High Impact Fellows program?
- Each High Impact team crafts a curricular project the Wofford student will carry out in conjunction with a study abroad experience, capstone, thesis, or independent research project.
- Partnerships provide professional development for area teachers by capitalizing on high impact activities underway on the Wofford Campus, such as study abroad, research experiences, and capstone projects.
- High school faculty participants have the opportunity to contribute to developing research projects that meet their classroom needs.
- Wofford faculty members gain a deeper understanding of pedagogy, curricula, and standards in secondary schools to better serve incoming students.
- As they interact with high school students and faculty, Wofford students expand the relevance of their work and develop effective strategies for communicating content in their disciplines. They also serve as role models for aspiration and attainment of post-secondary education among area high school students.
- Classroom-ready materials generated by teams will be available to any individual, worldwide, through the Sandor Tezsler Library’s new, web-based digital archive.
In statistics, here is a snapshot our first two years of the HIF Program:
- Year 1 (2012-13): fifteen (15) total teams, in nine (9) different disciplines, with teachers from eleven (11) high schools and four (4) counties participating.
- Year 2 (2013-14) features fourteen (14) teams, in twelve (12) different disciplines, with teachers from nine (9) high schools and three (3) counties participating.
- Year 2 includes 3 Converse teams (faculty + student), as well as one Wofford staff member in library science.
