Dr. Shiflet Teaching

"People have the misconception that computer scientists sit in front of their keyboards all the time.  Knowing how to work with and communicate with other members of a team is important.  Being able to analyze a problem systematically is important."
 - Dr. Angela Shiflet, Chair, Department of Computer Science

David Harmon
Each year, students from all over the country apply for prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowships (GRF). David Harmon ’05, a NSF Fellow in Computer Science, is now associated with the computer graphics laboratory at Columbia University in New York. Most of his research, which is a blend of physics, applied mathematics and computer science, involves cloth simulation, specifically developing a "collision detection and response system for cloth that allows it to interact appropriately with itself and its environment."
