Parent/Family Information – Commencement Weekend
Location, Length of ceremony:
The ceremony will be held on the front lawn of Main Building and will last 1 ½ to 2 hours. Lemonade on the Lawn will be held directly following the ceremony.
Seating for friends and family is first come first serve and will be on the lawn in front of Main Building, just behind the graduates.
In the event of rain, Commencement will be moved indoors and held at Benjamin Johnson Area with additional live streaming locations throughout campus. If the rain plan is in effect, family and friends will need a ticket in order to attend. Seating in Ben Johnson Arena is on a first come, first serve. The doors to the arena will open at 8:00am.
When Commencement is held on the front lawn of Main Building, tickets are not required. All family and friends are invited to be present. However, in the event of rain, Commencement will be moved into Ben Johnson Arena and tickets are required to enter the venue. Graduates will be given 6 tickets which will be delivered to their campus post office box the week before graduation. Students should be especially careful to keep their tickets in a safe place as lost tickets will not be replaced. Family and friends that do not have a ticket can view Commencement through live streaming at locations throughout campus.
A professional photographer with the company Grad Images will photograph students as they cross the stage and receive their diploma. Each student will be photographed individually. You will have the opportunity to purchase photos directly from Grad Images. For more information, please visit their website at:

: Please refer to the
which identifies the various lots available throughout campus. Parking for guests will be available in all campus lots except the Admission lot and the horseshoe-shaped drive behind Main Building. These lots are reserved for the special guests of the President and handicapped guests. Campus Drive will be blocked off on Friday morning so that the grounds can be set up for services on Saturday and Sunday. Because of this, entrance to the lots in front of and behind Marsh Hall can only be gained from Memorial Drive. All of the other lots can be accessed from Evins and Cumming Streets. Since there will be events at the Memorial Auditorium all weekend this year, no parking will be available for our guests except for the spaces adjacent to Fraternity Row. These are marked by signs. Please do not park anywhere else in the auditorium lot as they will tow unauthorized vehicles. If there are any questions about parking for Commencement Weekend, contact Randy Hall at
or (864) 597-4351.
Accommodations for the handicapped:
Parking for guests with a handicap is available in two locations. The first is the Admission lot which is also reserved for special guests of the President and the second is the horseshoe-shaped drive behind Main Building. Marshalls with carts will be available to transport guests from these lots to the front lawn of Main. In the event of rain, guests with handicap placards can park in the Richardson lot and enter Ben Johnson Arena through the side doors adjacent to the parking lot. Additionally, family members may drop off and pick-up handicap and elderly attendees at this same location. All guests with physical mobility issues should enter through the area doors contiguous to the Richardson lot. A special seating area will be designated for individuals with physical disabilities. Each individual may be accompanied by one family member or friend. If there are any questions about parking contact Randy Hall at
or (864) 597-4351.
Gathering on campus:
Prior to Commencement Weekend, families wishing to have an event or gathering on campus must receive approval from Mr. John Blair, Director of Conference Services. Mr. Blair can be reached at
or (864) 597-4404 to reserve a time and place.
The ceremony will last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours and will be followed by Lemonade on the Lawn. It is probably best to make your reservations after 12:30 or 1:00 pm.
A listing of area hotels and restaurants can be found at:
All visitors are asked to join Wofford in recycling paper, plastic, glass, and aluminum. Please use the proper containers positioned throughout the campus.
