CIL & IES Faculty Exchange Initiative
Sponsored by the Wofford College Center for Innovation and Learning & the Institute for the International Education of Students
The Faculty Exchange Initiative:
In 2010-2011, Wofford College engaged in a collaborative relationship with the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) as it undertook the introduction of Moodle as a consortium-wide Course Management / Learning Management System.
As a continuation of this collaboration with IES, our partner undertakes to offer five (5) faculty exchange opportunities to Wofford for its faculty members at one of the international study sites that IES Abroad operates. In no case will any of the five (5) exchanges, respectively, last longer than seven (7) days at any given IES Center. The Center for Innovation and Learning, in consultation with the Office of International Programs, invites applications from faculty members.
CIL staff, in consultation with the Office of International Programs, the Dean of the College, and IES, will select Exchange professors and collaborate with those professors to identify the IES Abroad site that is most appropriate to their goals and interests. In scheduling the site visit he Center and the selection team and the Exchange professors will be mindful of IES and Wofford academic calendars and will select the sites and dates for each exchange by mutual agreement. In no case will more than one (1) of the five (5) faculty members attend the same IES Abroad site.
The following IES sites are not eligible for a faculty exchange under this agreement: Auckland, New Zealand; Christchurch, New Zealand; Sydney, Australia; Melbourne, Australia; Nagoya, Japan.
IES Abroad agrees to provide for the costs of travel insurance, transportation, meals, housing costs, and the sum of $500 as an honorarium for each of the five (5) Wofford faculty members who are selected to visit an IES Abroad center. In no case will the total sums of honoraria exceed $2,500 without prior written consent of IES Abroad.
Faculty exchanges will be completed on or before December 1, 2012.
