Intense 5-Week Resident Program
The Institute for Professional Development is an intense 5-week resident program that will provide you with a substantial set of skills directly applicable in the professional workplace. Students who successfully complete this certificate-earning program will have a significant advantage when launching their career. It does not matter whether you major in history, finance or theater. The skills developed in this program apply equally to all.
Real-World Business Consulting
A real-world consulting assignment from businesses experiencing difficulty in a particular area forms the cornerstone of the program. Each team of students will meet with senior management of their assigned company, dicuss the relevant issues, project plan the assignment, investigate options and develop solutions. The team will present findings and recommendations to the organization's leadership in week five. This is not a simulation or a theoretical assignment. This is a robust consulting project that will prepare you for the challenges you will face in environments after Wofford.
Develop Marketable Professional Skills
The classroom portion of the Institute will provide you with the tools necessary to effectively manage the consulting project. In addition, you will develop professional, effective presentation and public speaking skills critical for long-term success. You will also learn self-development skills such as business etiquette, personal finance and time management.
Executive Speakers
To add further value, senior executives from prominent organizations will lecture at various times during the program, providing further insight into the relevant global issues of today. Select readings will be discussed and integrated into the program.
