About The Mungo Center for Professional Excellence
The Mungo Center for Professional Excellence houses seven programs focused on helping you develop an advanced set of professional skills that provides a significant advantage in life after Wofford. In designing The Mungo Center and its programs, Wofford identified the skills and behaviors required for professional success regardless of career path. The programs within The Mungo Center were then designed with these skills and behaviors in mind.

Four-Year Approach
We take a four-year approach to development. From the moment you step on campus, you'll have opportunities to explore and perfect areas of professionalism that are independent of your major or career choice.
First Year
Your goal this year is to discover your strengths and passions and to explore areas where you are able to use those strengths and passions regularly. We utilize several assessment tools to aid this process including StrengthsQuest, Strong Interest Inventory, and Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. You'll also meet with experienced advisers who help guide you as you start to define a career path.
Second Year
By now, you should have a few areas of interest. We'll help you learn how to begin developing a plan for building experiences in those areas. One key program, The Sophomore Experience, provides a foundation of professional excellence and enables you to start defining career options. You'll learn the importance of dedicating time and effort to developing an effective resume and learning how to network.
Third Year
In the third year, you will narrow your choices significantly and begin to focus on obtaining experience in professional settings. We emphasize effective business writing and etiquette, and networking takes on a whole new meaning. We discuss networking strategies and assist you in executing them -- creating opportunities that otherwise would not exist. You'll also learn how to effectively tap into the Wofford alumni network -- a critical part of the networking equation.
Fourth Year
As you prepare to graduate, we take professional excellence to an entirely new level. Take full advantage of The Mungo Center to gain further networking and real-world experience through internships, apprenticeships, consulting assignments, and entrepreneurial ventures. Polish your already effective interview skills and become a superb presenter and public speaker. You'll also learn critical skills such as project management and creative solution development.
During the entire four-year process, you'll be continually exposed to successful professionals from many disciplines through seminars, luncheons, and speaking events. The professionals provide insight into success and often become a networking resource and provide advice to you well after an event is held.
By building on your liberal arts foundation and being active in The Mungo Center, you'll leverage the skills learned to give yourself an 18- to 24-month advantage in the marketplace. In short, you'll be prepared for the challenges awaiting you after graduation.
