The Sophomore Experience
Program Summary
The Sophomore Experience is about preparing for your future. And this preparation is independent of your planned career. Those interested in medical school, law school, business or the arts will benefit from this interactive experience. Join Career Services for an exciting two-day conference in the heart of Greenville. Designed especially for sophomores, this event targets students interested in discovering the keys to success. You will learn in an environment that encourages questions and teamwork, making the event both educational and fun. The speakers and sessions will provide practical tools to assist with your decision making process – in college and beyond. Hosted in a premiere hotel downtown, the event also boasts a dinner, along with a special guest speaker and etiquette session, in one of the newest restaurants in Greenville. This year's Sophomore Experience happens February 4-5, 2010.

Day 2
7:30 am Continental Breakfast in the lobby
8:30-10:15 “When I Grow Up I Want to be a Cowboy” presentation by Rob Glander
10:15-10:30 Morning Break: Practice Networking
10:30-10:45 Case study explanation and directions with Scott Cochran
10:45-1 Complete case study in groups, lunch on your own
1-2:30 Present group projects
2:30 Closing and awards for Case study presentations
Program Goals
Each event is planned with a specific outcome or goal in mind. Students should take away many lessons from the weekend, and below, some specific learning outcomes are listed.
1. You will be able to apply the process of discovering an individual’s strengths to the environment around them as well as analyze your own strengths, while embracing them.
2. You will be able to properly socialize and introduce yourself in a group environment.
3. You will be able to properly attire yourself for the following: an interview, business lunch or dinner, and a normal day at work.
4. You will be able to initiate a meaningful discussion, evaluate the information and produce a solution in a group setting.
5. You will be able to conversationally, and confidently, present to a group.
Program Cost
The program cost $90 per participant. The cost covers all materials, lodging and food during the two day event. Students are responsible for travel to and from the event.
Scholarships are available, please email Jennifer Dillenger for a scholarship application. Applicants will be considered for both full and partial scholarships.
Registration for the Sophomore Experience 2010 opens November 23, 2009 and closes December 28, 2009.
