Letter to Freshmen
As Wofford’s student government, Campus Union serves as the most proactive agency through which students can take action and invoke change on campus. With a budget of more than $150,000, Campus Union plays a significant role in the funding of chartered organizations and of the campus social life. Not only does Campus Union help fund many student activities, but it is also recognized as the foremost student voice by both the Wofford administration and the Board of Trustees of the College.
Campus Union is made up of delegates from each class and is piloted by the Student Body President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Campus Union also embodies several committees, all of which play a vital role in student life. The committees are the WoffordAthletics and Recreation Committee, Campus Relations Committee, Facility Affairs Committee, Financial Affairs Committee, Fun Fund Committee, and the Wofford Activities Committee (WAC). Just a few of the many events these committees plan are the Black and Gold Ball, Faculty/Student Football Game, Spring Weekend, football tailgates, facility forums, paintball tournaments, and this past spring, hosted Afroman on campus.
You can get involved in Campus Union in several different ways. Elections for freshmen delegates are held at the beginning of the fall semester. You will vote for six of your fellow classmates to represent you as your delegates to the assembly. Another way for you to become active in Campus Union is by applying to be on one of our committees. Look for applications to our committees in early October.
Becoming part of Campus Union is one of the easiest and most fun ways you can integrate yourself with Wofford. Campus Union is excited about the energy and ideas that you will bring to campus.
The current assembly welcomes your questions, concerns, and ideas at any time. Also, please feel free to email the officers at CampusUnion@Wofford.edu, and be sure to check out the Campus Union website at http://www.wofford.edu/campusunion.
