Training Opportunities

Chaplain Ron Robinson '78 and Bonner Scholars Coordinator Debbie Deas '02There are many training opportunities to take advantage off during the course of the semester. There are conferences, seminars, and special courses that can aid you in your service initiatives. Many times the organization where you volunteer will offer free training workshops to learn necessary skills.

All meetings are designed to be open to the Wofford community and will advertised as such ahead of time.

Students are encouraged to propose their own BBC meetings around topics they and their peers are interested in.

Conferences
Each year the Wofford Bonner Program sends students to two conferences:

The National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness Conference held each year is a reunion of students and professionals to discuss the growing problem of hunger and homelessness in our country. The conference, which attracts participants nationwide, is an important yearly event to discuss the innovations in ways to deal with these two problems. It is also a good place to network and make future contacts for your service initiatives.

"The 13th Annual NSCAHH (National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness) Conference is held in order to galvanize student service and action in the fight against hunger and homelessness by providing skills and training, campus program ideas, community-building opportunities, and the inspiration needed to end hunger and homelessness."

The COOL (Collegiate Outreach Opportunity League) Conference is a conference held each year that unites students from many colleges and universities to exchange ideas.

"About COOL: Today’s active students and campuses need tangible ways to connect their personal and local actions with the larger movement of people who are serving to better our nation. COOL aims to be a leader in student civic engagement. We offer today’s students and campuses a marketplace for the exchange of ideas, practices, and inspiration around issues of student community involvement. In addition, we offer valuable tools to students and campuses seeking to improve the quality and depth of their current service efforts. Finally, we are a best practice leader- working to develop solutions on the important issues of sharing networks, resources, and strategies by convening students, campuses, and non-profit organizations to serve and work together. Get involved in the COOL network and its national movement to making positive social change."
