Post conference 2-day trip
The Cultural and Natural History of the South Carolina Coast.
Dr. Stephen O'Neill (Furman University) will be your host for this trip. With expertise in both natural history and Gullah culture, Steve will guide you through a rich exploration of this region. You will depart Saturday afternoon for St. Helena Island, SC and stay at the
Penn Center. Your two days will be filled with walking tours, hands-on demonstrations, and discussions with scholars and local people who will share with you their knowledge of Gullah culture, coastal history, and the coastal environment. You will stay in one of the Penn Center’s charming guest houses and enjoy their home-style cuisine. We’ll depart after lunch on Saturday (June 16) and return in time for afternoon flights (after 3:00 p.m.)from GSP on Monday (June 18). (Price is all inclusive, $250/person)
