A letter from Dr. Samhat
Dear Wofford Alumni,
Monday, we began the academic year with 417 first-year students joining sophomores, juniors and seniors in one of the finest educational experiences among any liberal arts college in the nation.
Prema and I, as "new students" ourselves, had the opportunity to greet our incoming class last week on move-in day. The Orientation Staff, our facilities managers and staff, and the Resident Assistants and athletes, all pitched in to make the move-in a warm and welcoming day for parents and new students. Our incoming class is a vibrant and diverse group of students: They come from 26 states and five countries, 16% identify themselves as students of color, we have valedictorians, salutatorians, team captains, National Honor Society members, editors of yearbooks and student newspapers, student class presidents and officers, athletes and first generation students all coming to Wofford.
Prema and I have had a wonderful first two months at Wofford, and I know this coming year will be one of great excitement and opportunity as we begin a strategic planning process and imagine and plan for the future. I hope you will have the opportunity to come to campus during the year and see and feel for yourself the excitement and energy we feel.
My best regards,
