A Wofford Wedding

With Wofford College known for it’s small size and community feel, senior Carter Pearson ’05 and sophomore Molly France ‘07 thought that they knew just about everyone, so when interim came around and both decided to intern in Washington, DC they were surprised they had not met before. After a whirlwind month spent on Capitol Hill the two knew right away that they did not want to waste anymore of the short time they had left together at Wofford apart. The two courted through homecomings, sporting events, exams and graduations, so once they were engaged they knew that the school that meant so much to them would be the only place fitting for them to start the rest of our lives together.

On August 06, 2011 Molly and Carter were married in the College’s Old Main building, the focal point of Wofford's campus, in a gorgeous 6.30pm ceremony led by Rev. Ron Robinson.  Several Wofford alums made up the wedding party including: Copeland Rhea ’05, Daniel Sloan ’05, Claude Prevost ’05, Edward Hanley ’07, Meg Morrison ’07, Katie Gunn ’07, Meredith Dyar ’07, Timmons Hipp ’05, Anne Marie Crosswell ’07 and Mary Clark Prevost ‘07.  Afterwards they took advantage of students and the Carolina Panthers being off campus and enjoyed a cocktail hour at the foot of the Main buildings steps, right in the heart of campus on top of the College’s magnificent seal.  A four horn procession led all guests, with the wedding party leading the parade, from the seal down main campus drive to the lively sounds of "Oh Happy Day" and Three Dog Night's "Joy To The World" into a beautiful backyard style reception on the hidden back lawn of the Papadopolous building.

Molly and Carter wanted to take advantage and draw attention to the natural beauty of Wofford’s campus, a National Arboretum, so they added a few extra touches, like Molly’s sister doing the artwork for the hotel booklets, as well as a family friend making the guest's “tree bark.”  Their “first look” was even between a tree on campus!  Having their entire wedding on the campus where they fell and grew in love made it the perfect backdrop for another wonderful Wofford memory.

All of us at Wofford love a good Wofford love story! Thank you Molly and Carter for sharing your photos and your story with us.
