Dr. David D. Grier

News: Dr. David D. Grier ‘93, has been named Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Financial Services of Wake Forest School of Medicine, effective July 1, 2012.In this administrative role, Dr. Grier is responsible for the recruitment of applicants for the School of Medicine and supervises the selection process for those who are admitted. He oversees student financial aid and the awarding of scholarships.Dr. Grier has served as vice chair of the School of Medicine Admissions Committee, as a member of the Continuing Medical Education Committee and as a member of the Residency Training Committee. He is also the Medical Director of Flow Cytometry at Wake Forest Baptist Health.As vice chair of the Admissions Committee, Dr. Grier has developed a great understanding of the admissions process. His enthusiasm for enriching the educational experience, increasing our underrepresented minorities, mentoring students and enhancing scholarly activities will bring further strength to our educational mission and build on the work of his predecessor.Dr. Grier received his undergraduate degrees from Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, and his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.His honors and awards include the Pennell Pro Humanitate Vitae Fund Award at Wake Forest School of Medicine. With that award, Dr. Grier traveled to Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where he worked at Hospital Escuela. His national positions include committee work with the College of American Pathologists, the International Clinical Cytometry Society and the American Society of Clinical Pathology.
