The Wildflowers of the Carolinas
Traveling Seminar Series for Wofford College alumni and friends
Science in your own backyard!
About the Series The Wildflowers of the Carolinas Traveling Seminar features a series of one-day bus tours to study both the common and unusual species of wildflowers native to the Carolinas. The seminars are led by Wofford professor Doug Rayner, co-author of A Guide to the Wildflowers of South Carolina. Utilizing the book, participants will learn to identify wildflowers all across the various geographic zones of the Carolinas, many in off-the-beaten-path locations. Previous trips include: - Stevens Creek Heritage Preserve (SCHP) in McCormick County, one of the most prolific wildflower locales in the South Carolina Upcountry
- Enoree River Rich Woods, arguably the best wildflower site in Laurens County and the location of a deer exclosure
- Landsford Canal State Park in Lancaster County to view the largest concentration of Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies in the world.
