Scholarship and Financial Aid Opportunities

The following are many of the scholarship programs available at Wofford College.  By applying for admission, you are reviewed for merit based aid automatically.  Some scholarship programs require a nomination or application.  Please choose the appropriate link below for more information on each program.

Wofford Scholars
Since 1949, outstanding high school students have been competing at Wofford for scholarships based on academic achievement, leadership and character. Each year the college receives nominations for the Wofford Scholars Program from guidance counselors across the United States. From these nominees, students are selected and invited to compete for a variety of scholarships.  Wofford's faculty/staff, students and alumni eagerly anticipate meeting the best and brightest young people in the country on Scholars Day.

Richardson Scholarship
The Richardson Family Scholarship is the highest honor awarded to an entering freshman at Wofford. This scholarship is awarded through the Wofford Scholars Program and includes an additional on-campus interview with college representatives and the Richardson family. A small number of students who attended the Wofford Scholars Day are invited to return to campus in March.

Bonner Scholars
Bonner Scholars are "changing the world through service" at Wofford and more than 20 other participating institutions. Established by the Corella and Bertram F. Bonner Foundation of Princeton, NJ, the Bonner Scholars program allows students to help others through volunteer service, while offsetting college expenses. For the students involved, the program combines both "learning to serve and serving to learn" to provide an enriched college experience. The preliminary screening is based on financial need and academic record. A secondary screening is based on past service experience.

The Impact Program
The Wofford College Impact Program is a scholarship-supported, projects-based, student-led learning community that is grounded in the liberal arts. Admission criteria for The Impact Program includes academic performance as well as unique talents, interests and experiences. Student candidates are asked to describe in a one-page statement their unique talents, interests, or experiences that have profoundly affected their view of the world.

Chinese Scholars Program
For citizens of China, Wofford offers the opportunity to earn a minimum of $10,000 per year of study for four years. 

ROTC
The Department of Military Science at Wofford College awards scholarships to the most outstanding applicants. In keeping with our high standards of excellence, candidates are selected for scholastic as well as extracurricular accomplishments and not on the basis of financial need. Scholarship benefits are awarded in annual amounts full tuition and fees. In addition to the awarded scholarship, each winner receives a flat rate of $1200 annually for books and supplies, as well as, a tax-free monthly stipend of $300 as a freshman, $350 as a sophomore, $450 as a junior and $500 as a senior.

Music
The Wofford College music program has ample opportunities for students to participate in vocal and instrumental ensembles, musical theatre, music history and theory classes. Although Wofford has no music major, students from many departments participate in a variety of musical activities. Most music classes and performing ensembles offer college credit which satisfies Wofford's fine arts requirements. Music scholarships are available for choral, strings and band students.  Contact the appropriate music faculty member for information on audition and scholarship opportunities.

Theatre
Wofford offers a major in theatre as well as opportunities to participate in the Wofford Theatre Workshop, an active part of student life for more than 30 years. The Wofford Theatre Workshop offered students the exhilarating challenges of mounting full-scale theatrical productions as an extra-curricular activity. Scholarships are available.
