  • Why Major in Accounting or Finance?

A major in accounting or finance doesn’t mean you’ll be stuck in a windowless room with large columns of numbers and an adding machine. Accounting or finance requires advanced critical thinking skills and a willingness to build upon foundational skills to achieve understanding of complex topics.

Accounting or finance majors take courses that cover a variety of topics that include: Cost Accounting, Auditing, Tax Concepts, Management, Marketing, Business Finance, Investments, Capital Budgeting, Real Estate Analysis and more. Students will find that classes vary between seminar and lecture and between theory and hands on coursework.

Accounting and Finance students also have an opportunity to participate in the James-Atkins Fund, which is a student run investment group that manages a portfolio of more than $200,000.
