Finance Major Requirements

Prerequisites 

  • Economics 201 - Principles of Microeconomics 
  • Economics 202 - Principles of Macroeconomics 
  • Mathematics 140 - Statistics (prerequisite for FIN 321)
  • Mathematics 160 - Calculus for the Social Sciences or
    Mathematics 181 - Calculus I
    A minimum grade of C is required in all prerequisites for Finance majors.
    They may be taken at any time prior to graduation.
     

Completion of 33 hours as follows
    Nine hours from required courses: 

  • Accounting 211 - Principles of Accounting 
  • Finance 321 - Business Finance (A grade of C or greater is required in Finance 321 as a prerequisite for the 400-level Finance courses) 
  • Finance 445 - Business Finance (A grade of C or greater is required in Finance 321 as a prerequisite for the 400-level Finance courses)  

    Six hours from the following courses: 

  • Accounting 341 - Cost Accounting I 
  • Accounting 342 - Cost Accounting II 
  • Accounting 351 - Intermediate Accounting I 
  • Accounting 352 - Intermediate Accounting II 
  • Accounting 425 - Income Tax Concepts and Decision Making 
  • Accounting 426 - Income Tax Concepts and Decision Making II 

    Twelve hours from the following courses: 

  • Finance 411 - Investments 
  • Finance 415 - Bank Management  
  • Finance 420 - Cases in Finance 
  • Finance 430 - Capital Budgeting 
  • Finance 435 - Real Estate Analysis 
  • Finance 440 - International Finance 
  • Finance 445 - Financial Statement Analysis 
  • Finance 450 - Corporate Financial Analysis 
  • Finance 480 - Advanced Topics in Finance 

    Six hours from the following courses:  

  • Business 331 - Management 
  • Business 338 - Marketing 
  • Business 339 - Consumer Behavior 
  • Business 340 - Marketing Research 
  • Business 348 - Small Business Management 
  • Business 350 - Business and the Environment 
  • Business 376 - Collaborative Problem Solving 
  • Business 448 – Leadership—In Business and Beyond 
  • Business 480 - Special Topics  
  • Economics 372 - Business Law
