 Santiago Mariani, 2008 Finance
|
As an individual with entrepreneurial aspirations, my degree in finance will undoubtedly empower me to make well-informed decisions as I pursue my dreams in the world of business. The major's breadth of classes opened my eyes to opportunities that would have otherwise remained hidden. In addition to my major, my involvements in organizations, like Success Initiative, have provided me with enriching experiences that have fostered my growth both as an individual and leader. From writing my grandfather's biography to working at the Aspen Institute in Colorado, the college has supported me unconditionally in every academic and extracurricular endeavor. It has been more than I ever hoped for, and I am grateful to have been blessed with the Wofford experience. Update: Santiago is currently attending Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Pennsylvania as a seminarian for the Catholic Diocese of Charlotte.

Mark L. Reynolds, 2008 Finance/Spanish

Being a Finance major at Wofford is great because the major incorporates so many different skills and abilities. Computational skills and math skills are very important as well as the ability to see trends, gather information, and make decisions. Writing skills are essential to communicating your findings. Presentations are also a crucial part of the program. It really is a broad major, despite certain misconceptions. After graduation, I am entering into a career in financial services. I would like to work in cash management, personal banking, and business banking. I hope to use my skills gained from my Finance and Spanish majors to support missionaries and humanitarian organizations around the world. I am excited about the opportunities afforded to me by the Finance major. Update: Mark is currently a credit analyst at First Citizens Bank in Columbia, SC.
