Lara Simpson Hrabota '07
College Sales Representative, W.W. Norton
B.A., in English and philosophy, Wofford College (2007)
M.A., in writing, literature, and publishing, Emerson College (2008)
After graduating Wofford cum laude, and backpacking through Europe, Hrabota completed Emerson's Masters program in a year and a half, beginning work full time as a publicist at the History Press, a small publisher of local and regional histories. After working there for just over a year, a former professor from Emerson called and asked her to interview for a publicist position that had opened up in her department at Da Capo Press (Perseus Books Group). After working with Da Capo for more than two years and running national publicity campaigns for authors, Hrabota accepted a position with W.W. Norton, the publisher for trade hits like The Blind Side and Moneyball as well as college legacies such as The Norton Anthology of English Literature. Now she visits professors at more than 30 colleges and universities through the Southeast to discuss books and how students can best be served in the classroom.
