Music

Students from any department may participate in music courses and performing ensembles, most of which satisfy Wofford’s fine arts requirements. Wofford’s music program offers an array of performance opportunities in both vocal and instrumental groups. Private music lessons also are available. The college offers music scholarships for singers and instrumentalists based on an audition.

Gary McGraw

Meet Gary McCraw ’77

Professor and chairman of the department, Gary McCraw is a talented musician. He plays the organ at Wofford convocations and conducts multiple college musical ensembles. McCraw was involved with the Spartanburg Little Theatre for more than 25 years, serving as pit pianist and conductor. He also serves as the director of music ministries and organist at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Ellie Fletcher ’23

Meet Ellie Fletcher ’23

Ellie Fletcher majored in biology with a music minor in vocal performance. She was a member of Wofford Singers, Goldtones and Women’s Choir. “The music department offered a space where I could immerse myself in the joy and fulfillment of vocal music, while also serving as a wonderful escape from external stressors, providing comfort and relaxation through my musical pursuits,” she says. She is working in healthcare and plans to become a physician assistant.
